CBBB TSRTS FAQ

What is this?

Cowboy Bebop: The Song Remains The Same is Studio Sokodei’s first fansub.

It is adapted from the videogame Cowboy Bebop: Tsuioku no Yakyoku (Serenade of Recollection) for PlayStation 2. The game was released in Japan in August 2005. It was never released in the US.

What do you mean it’s adapted from a game?

The Song Remains The Same is a “movie” compilation of the game’s cutscenes that mixes in gameplay footage where necessary for action sequences. All the cutscenes are voiced and feature the series’ original cast.

So it’s got all-new animation?

Alas, it’s not hand-drawn. Everything in the game is rendered real-time in a “cel-shaded” graphics engine. Some sample screens:

Spike

Jet

Faye & Kent

Ed & Ein

Since you’re Studio Sokodei, this must be a parody of some kind.

Nope, the subtitles will be a straight translation of the original Japanese dialogue. The only jokes are the ones the game’s writers made.

What’s it about?

Read the synopsis.

Where does the game figure in the continuity of Cowboy Bebop?

Like the CBBB movie, the game’s story exists as a “lost episode” occurring sometime between Ed joining the Bebop crew (Episode 9) and Big Shot being cancelled (Episode 23).

Where can I see this?

The Song Remains The Same can now be viewed in its entirety on YouTube.

Would you guys consider doing more videogame fansubs like this?

We’re not planning on it, but if something comes along that strikes our fancy as much as Cowboy Bebop does, it’s certainly possible.
